About School

The ramen school was founded in 2012 for foreigners by the owner of a tonkotsu (pork bone) ramen restaurant near Yokohama Station, which is highly reviewed by local customers. The school is popular for its program combined with OJT (on-the-job training) at an actual restaurant and good support for students. It is also one of its strengths that you do not need an interpreter and can talk directly to the instructor in English.

In this course, you will learn all the skills necessary for making ramen, mainly tonkotsu ramen, while having OJT at a restaurant. You can also learn how to make side dishes, such as gyoza. The course is recommended for those who want to open a ramen restaurant with smaller initial investments.

【Making Ramen】
■Soup Types
Tonkotsu, Chintan (clear soup), Paitan (milky soup); soup based on chicken bone, fish bone, and vegetable

■ Making Noodles and Machine Types
Hand-made noodles, handy noodle-making machine, small machine, big machine

■ Oil

■ Toppings
Roast pork, seasoned soft-boiled eggs, onion, etc.

【 Side Dishes】
■ Side dishes to increase average customer spend
(e.g. gyoza, and more)

【 OJT at an Actual Restaurant】
■You will make ramen at a restaurant and serve customers.
■ Ramen you will make include tonkotsu ramen, soy-sauce-based ramen, tonkotsu spicy ramen.

【 Ramen Business】
■ Cost and pricing, preparing for opening, designing the restaurant, management

*The course contents may vary depending on the conditions.

Eligibility

-Applicants must be in good health.

-Applicants do not need experience in food service.

-Applicants must be able to stay in Japan legally during the course.

*There is no skill test required for certification, but we will provide the certificate for those who have shown commitment to participating in class and learning.

Makoto Tada (Mr.)

With more than a decade of experience as a ramen chef, he runs a popular tonkotsu ramen restaurant in Yokohama. Since he has worked at a ramen restaurant in the United States, he can teach in English without an interpreter. Many of the students enrolled in the school because of his personal charm.

How to make a payment

After you send an application by e-mail and are accepted, the bill will be sent to you. Please pay with PayPal (or a bank account) by a week before the class starts.
(You will be responsible for transfer fees charged by the sending and receiving banks.)

Cancellation Policy

If you have to cancel under unexpected circumstances, contact the school by a week before the class starts. Your payment will be refunded, except for bank transaction fees and other processing fees.

Accommodation

There is no accommodation at the school.
We will help you find a hotel or Air BnB nearby Yokohama Station.

Visa

If your valid passport is issued by countries/areas which has partnership for visa-waiver with Japan, you are able to enter and stay in Japan up to 90days.

If not, you are required to obtain short-term stay/tourist visa to enter Japan. We are able to assist you to obtain visa.

If you need a visa to enter Japan, we will help you with the application for a short-term stay visa after we confirm your 50% advance payment.

*Some countries and regions may require original documents from Japan for a visa application. In that case, we may charge you the shipping fee for the documents (10,000JPY-20,000JPY).
